The Influence of English Movie on
English Listening Teaching in College

Listening
is a skill that requires active engagement to help students become effective
listeners. To make the listening more fun and to make students enthusias to
take listening class, this journal provide the effectiveness of English movie
in improving students’ listening abilities by using English movie. With using English
movie also can improve students’ learning interest, expand their knowledge and
improve their listening ability. So English teacher should teach listening
through English movie. Besides English movie can improve listening skill it can
also help stimulate students’ thirst for knowledge and improve their learning
enthusiasm. Interest is the best
teacher, when a person is interested in something, he will try the best thing
to get it. So with interest students can eassy understant the subject that they
learn. Interest defided into two catagories, the fisrt is direct interest.
Among them, direct interest comes from the learning process, while the direct
interest will reinforced the interest of learning and can reduce the burden of
learning and psychology pressure of
students. The second is indirect interest, this is the interest that come from
the study purpose. Indirect interest is to enchance the students ‘ learning
perseverance and confidence in their learning. Students should have both of
interest to make them eassy in doing something and also in learning process. To
improve students’ listening abiity by using english movie can produces many
impact to students to learn english. So with this strategies hoped can improve
students listening skill.
